Burton move to new R&D Facility
Burton today announced that it will shift premium snowboard production from its small, Vermont-based Burton Manufacturing Center (BMC) to Austria, where the company has been building snowboards for over 25 years. Product design and development will still be home-grown in Vermont, where the company will relocate its snowboard prototyping resources from BMC into a new, purely R&D-driven prototype facility at its global headquarters in Burlington.

The regular with twin tip boards in the YES. range are aimed at those riders who are looking for the ultimate in technical freestyle control. All three sizes are built around an advanced lightweight FSC approved Poplar with Beech reinforced Twin Tip wood core, featuring CamRock construction. This state of the art design combines camber between the feet with rocker at the tip and tail. By combining camber and rocker you get a board that has superb stability and increased turning control whilst still feeling shorter through the length and reducing the likelihood of hooking up on a rail, also the rocker in the tip gives superb float in deeper snow.

Designed specifically for stop-and-go activities where maintaining consistent body temperature is of greatest importance, PHASIC™ technology is at the heart of Arc’teryx new PHASE base layer collection. Utilized in three different fabric weights, PHASIC™ is an innovative performance-based technology which rapidly transports perspiration during an active, athletic phase, disperses moisture across the garment in the recovery phase, and dries out quickly while at rest. These premium textiles are encapsulated with anti-microbial silver-ions that deliver effective and long-lasting odour control.

Green The major focus for the snowboard winter 2010/2011 is on eco-friendly products. The environmental aspect is becoming more important in regards to resources as well as manufacturing. Factories use fast-growing bamboo, wood sourced from local forests or recycling materials such as paper for laminates and steel for edges. The use of resins and other toxic materials is increasingly reduced. Flow already reduces the number of prototypes built to keep to this motto.
